Policy Basis
This page is compiled from the "Qingdao University Undergraduate Innovation Practice Credit Recognition and Management Measures" (Document No. QDU-Jiao [2024] 22), issued on January 17, 2025, replacing the former Document No. QDU-Jiao [2015] 1; scoring standards refer to the "Qingdao University Undergraduate Innovation Practice Credit Scoring Standards" and the "Professional Level Examination Scoring Table." If there are any changes, please refer to the latest documents from the Academic Affairs Office.
Actually, the fact that your driver's license can earn you points isn't the craziest part — the craziest is that writing two Tomato novels can count as passing, since they won't hold you back from graduation over this. In theory, even marriage and divorce certificates could earn you two extra points. (Just kidding, read on for the real rules)
What Is This
Innovation practice credits refer to the credits earned by undergraduates during their enrollment period through achieving results in academic competitions, professional qualification exams, innovation and entrepreneurship training projects, publishing papers or works, scientific research, inventions, academic exchanges, professional certification, and entrepreneurial practice, which are recognized by the university. They serve as the grade basis for the university's required "Innovation and Entrepreneurship Practice" course (3 credits).
- Applied for and recognized through the university's "Second Classroom" online platform, with results recorded on the "Second Classroom Transcript"
- Students who do not earn at least 3 points will not meet graduation requirements ("Innovation and Entrepreneurship Practice" is a required course, 3 credits)
- These are the 3 credits under the "Innovation and Entrepreneurship" category of the Second Classroom, independent of and non-duplicative with other Second Classroom modules
Significance and Purpose
- National Initiative: Innovation and entrepreneurship education is a key direction for national higher education reform. The State Council and Ministry of Education have issued multiple directives supporting student innovation and entrepreneurship training projects; innovation practice credits are the practical implementation
- Driving Growth: Encouraging students to apply classroom knowledge to real-world scenarios such as competitions, research, and entrepreneurship, enhancing innovative spirit, entrepreneurial awareness, and practical capabilities
- Graduation Necessity: It is a clearly defined required course; failing to earn 3 credits affects graduation — it's a "must-achieve" hard credit
- Postgraduate Recommendation Bonus: Achievements such as competition awards, published papers, patents, and software copyrights not only count toward Second Classroom scoring but also serve as important credentials for postgraduate recommendation and scholarship evaluation
Grade Conversion
In the graduation semester, based on the total points recognized on the "Second Classroom" platform, the course grade for "Innovation and Entrepreneurship Practice" (required course, 3 credits) is recorded:

Recognition Process
- The student fills out the Innovation Practice Credit application form and submits valid proof materials (certificates, papers, project completion certificates, etc.) for innovation and entrepreneurship achievements to their department
- The department reviews the application materials and recognizes the corresponding points based on the content and level of the achievements
- The department uploads the recognized data to the "Second Classroom" online platform, recording it on your "Second Classroom Transcript"
- In the graduation semester, based on the total recognized points, the department enters the "Innovation and Entrepreneurship Practice" course grade

Q: What counts as a core journal? A: Each department determines journal classification standards based on its own disciplinary characteristics. Please consult your department's academic affairs office for specifics.
