Qingdao University currently has over 41,000 full-time students and covers an area of 2,496 mu, with numerous dining halls across multiple campuses. According to the university's Logistics Management Office, there are currently 21 dining halls on all campuses, including 12 basic meal halls and 9 flavor halls. In recent years, the university has been promoting the "Open Kitchen" project renovation, continuously improving the hygiene and safety standards of dining halls.

Jinjialing Campus

Jinjialing Campus has five main dining halls distributed across the East and West campuses, plus an underground passage food area.

Dining Hall 1 (Waterfront Restaurant)

Location: West Campus, named "Waterfront Restaurant" due to its proximity to Jian Lake, with excellent scenery. Three floors.

  • First Floor: Mixed dishes, set meals. Breakfast options are limited; suitable for lunch and dinner. Also offers instant noodles, malatang, egg-wrapped rice. There is a 7-Eleven store at the entrance of Dining Hall 1's first floor, which also sells bento and rice meals.
  • Second Floor: Self-service model, choose dishes yourself and pay collectively based on each dish's price. Suitable for breakfast, lunch is average.
  • Third Floor: Has a halal window upon entry. Mixed dish windows offer many varieties, being the birthplace of QDU's "dark cuisine" (creative dishes like fruit stir-fried with meat). There is also a "Lemon Not Cute" window offering various snacks and cakes, with stylish tables and chairs in the small shop.

Dining Hall 2 (Flavor Restaurant)

Location: West Campus, in front of Jian Lake.

Wide variety, clean environment, higher prices but delicious. Juices are freshly squeezed, and there is the only fried yogurt shop near QDU. Breakfast is also quite rich.

Dining Hall 3 (Faculty and Staff Restaurant)

Location: West Campus.

Primarily open to faculty and staff, but students can also go. Food quality is relatively stable. Breakfast includes 3 yuan/onion beef buns, which are very cost-effective.

Dining Hall 4 (Including Chinese Fast Food)

Location: East Campus.

  • Second Floor: Bucket rice, grilled meat rice, steamed buns, pies, various noodles, Lanzhou hand-pulled noodles, malatang (very cheap), mixed dishes (slightly expensive, calculated per serving), dumplings, wontons; rice can be ordered in half portions.
  • Third Floor: Chinese fast food, rice with toppings, mixed dishes.

University of Science and Technology South Campus Restaurant

Location: Adjacent to Qingdao University of Science and Technology's South Campus, next to QDU Jinjialing Campus.

Delicious and affordable, recognized as the best dining hall on the East Campus. However, you need a friend from UST to take you in. The underground passage allows takeout and offers delivery services.

East-West Campus Underground Passage

The underground corridor between East and West campuses is similar to a snack street, with eight to nine windows and fruit sales. You can order on-campus or off-campus delivery via Meituan or Ele.me, usually with a one-yuan delivery fee or free.

Fushan Campus

Fushan Campus is divided into East, West, and North campuses, with over ten dining halls.

East Campus

Hongyuan Dining Hall

Breakfast: fried dough sticks, eggs, scallion oil pancakes, bread, steamed rolls, pickles (frequently updated). Lunch and dinner are mixed dishes, plus boiled noodles, fried rice, fried noodles, etc. This dining hall has a staff member who handles lost clothes; you can give him suggestions (like adding more food varieties). The classification is clear and bright.

Yingyuan Dining Hall (First Floor)

Affordable prices, with malatang, noodles, self-set meals, instant noodles, clay pot, fried rice, fried noodles, steamed buns, etc.

Flavor Restaurant (Second Floor)

Appears to be the best-tasting restaurant in Fushan Campus, with wide variety and slightly higher prices. Offers:

  • Northwestern flavors, rice bowls, sizzling iron plate rice, grilled meat rice, pizza
  • Guangdong flavors, Hunan flavors
  • Malatang, clay pot soup, spicy hot pot, Chongqing small noodles
  • Various flatbreads, steamed buns, porridge

There is also a 7-Eleven store on the second floor; bento and oden are delicious.

Halal Restaurant

Many specialty dishes, affordable, hygienic, with frequent free soup. Hand-pulled noodles and sliced noodles taste good. In summer, there are also cold noodles and dumplings.

Cultural Celebrity Restaurant

  • First Floor: One window for oil-splashed noodles, other windows serve mixed dishes, cheap.
  • Second Floor: Has clay pot that was once featured in newspapers, with multiple flavors. Noodles are cheap and affordable. Various steamed buns, mantou, flatbreads.

West Campus

Renyuan Dining Hall (2023 Shandong Province University Star-rated Dining Hall)

Very down-to-earth, lunch and dinner dishes are very cheap. Former President Xia Dongwei used to frequent here.

  • Breakfast: fried dough sticks, pickles, etc.
  • Lunch/Dinner: beef rice noodles (with sour cabbage), mixed dishes.

Zhongkuai Restaurant (Next to International Restaurant)

Slightly expensive, wide variety, good taste. Occasionally closed on weekends.

  • First Floor: Seaweed egg soup, soup dumplings, dumplings, clay pot soup (egg custard, mushroom chicken soup, kelp pork ribs), hand-pulled noodles (highly praised), malatang.
  • Second Floor: Self-selected dishes, relatively affordable, delicious.

International Restaurant

First-floor Western restaurant, beautiful environment, offers coffee and steak, frequently visited by foreign friends, slightly higher prices.

North Campus

Liuyuan Dining Hall

Two floors with staggered rest schedules.

  • Breakfast: Egg fried rice, egg pancake, fried mantou slices, sugar pancake, fried dough sticks, pies, eggs, braised eggs, fried eggs, various pickles, cold dishes, noodles, soy milk, mixed congee.
  • Lunch/Dinner: Mixed dishes, noodles, sweet potato and corn (seasonal), various mantou (corn, white flour, red sweet potato), steamed buns, purple rice, etc.

Liuyuan Flavor Restaurant

Dumplings, wontons, noodle dishes, rice bowls, wraps, side dishes, malatang, clay pot soup, oil-splashed noodles.

Additionally, behind Building C there is "Laiba Fruit Shop" selling fruit, instant noodles, etc.; "Yizhiwei Leisure Bar" offers pies, eggs, rice bowls, etc. for breakfast.

Off-Campus Dining Recommendations

Around Jinjialing Campus

  • East-West Campus Junction (Off-Campus): "Ditch Oil Street" (very short), with restaurants, milk tea shops, stores, barbershops, cosmetic shops, eyeglass shops.
  • "San Hu Barbecue" Across from No. 2 Middle School: Skewer-focused, the cheapest barbecue on the East Campus.
  • Longji Grouper Hot Pot South of No. 2 Middle School: Delicious taste, attentive service, around 100 yuan per person.
  • East Campus Street: Zui'ai, Taipei 1+1 (good atmosphere, suitable for large gatherings), Zhuangyuan Dumplings Mother's Dish, Xian Zonglin, Gaojigu, Potsticker shop.
  • Northwest of Laoshan District Government: Many grilled fish restaurants and food stalls, moderate prices, recommend Yuwei Wuxian (50+ yuan per person).
  • Qinling Road (Hand-eat Restaurant): Specialty hand-grabbed rice.
  • Outside West Campus Small West Gate (UST Back Mountain): Many delicious options, including Korean and Chinese fast food, as well as street snacks. There is a snack shop run by a deaf person at the entrance, recommended. Many fruit stalls there too.
  • Liuqinghe Beach Barbecue: Open-air camping available, run by seniors from the School of Business, negotiable prices, suitable for class or department gatherings.

Around Fushan Campus

  • East Campus Entrance: Chunxiang Small Noodles, Braised Chicken Rice, McDonald's, Ajisen Ramen.
  • Snack Street Between East and West Campuses: Various snack stalls.
  • Taidong Night Market: Octopus balls, pig trotters, Sister Wang Barbecue, fried yogurt, snack street.

Dining Tips

  • Payment Methods: Campus card, or Alipay (WeChat Pay not accepted).
  • Takeout: Dining halls provide trays and utensils; no need to bring your own containers. During severe pandemics, the university distributes free disposable bowls.
  • Off-Campus Dining: Outside Jinjialing Campus's Small West Gate, there is a food street with various restaurants, snacks, and barbecue. Outside Fushan Campus's East Campus entrance, there are Chunxiang Small Noodles, Braised Chicken Rice, McDonald's, etc.
  • Campus Card Recharge: Can be done at manual recharge points or via the Youka APP for self-service recharge.
  • Halal Dining: Both Jinjialing Dining Hall 3's third floor and Fushan East Campus Halal Restaurant offer halal meals.
  • Average Monthly Consumption: Generally, 800-1200 yuan/month is sufficient for meals alone, depending on individual circumstances.
  • Business Hours: Basic meal halls usually operate from 6:30-8:30, 10:30-13:00, 16:30-18:30; flavor halls provide all-day non-stop service (6:30-21:30). Hours vary by dining hall.
